Enlist In Training The SQL N00B Crew With Me

I recently received an email from a reader asking about free training for SQL Server.  Without giving it a second thought I recommended SQL Saturday.  These events, now going on two years strong, are single-day training sessions on all things SQL Server as well professional development sessions geared towards the database professional.  The high-level of [...]

Thing 1 Thing 2 and Thing 3. (or No Farm Animals Were Injured In The Making of This Post.)

Paul Randal (web|twitter) created another one of these chain blog memes recently when posting about the three things/events that brought him to his current circumstances on this little blue-green planet.  The meme eventually made its way to Jack Corbett (web|twitter) and then onto me.  As per normal processes when asked to make a list of [...]

A Thank You To New England

Thank you Grant Fritchey, Adam Mechanic, David Waugh, and all the others behind SQL Saturday all the way up to Andy Warren!  I had a great time presenting at SQL Saturday #34 (Boston) and learned some nice things to take back to the office first thing Monday morning. About to board a flight to Chicago [...]

Speaking at SQL Saturday RicXXXXmond, er Boston. Or Mother Nature’s Reverse Cleveland Steamer.

Looks like Mother Nature is into giving certain IT professionals the old Reverse-Cleveland Steamer.  Yep, she dropped a big ol’ pile o’ cold poo on this SQL Server Presenter’s (and other’s) chests yesterday, causing the folks behind SQL Saturday #30 in Richmond to postpone until April 10, 2010.  This unfortunately coincides with Spring Break here [...]

Whose Pony Is It Anyways? Or Where are My Pants, Peschka?

In a recent post I laid out a challenge to all bloggers to use five phrases and craft a blog post of their choosing as a study in stengthening their writing skills while having a little fun in the process.  This is my response to the challenge.  Phrases in boldface are those that had to [...]

Whose Blog Is It Anyway?

When Comedy Central first came on the air, a quirky British improv show called Whose Line Is It Anyway became a cult hit. I remember sitting around in some state of impairment with my friends laughing our asses off each episode. Even the American version from ABC had some high points a decade later. It [...]

2010 Resolutions and Themeword

I’ve been tagged by Tom LaRock…   …to broadcast my resolutions for the next year for all to see (or at least the 6 readers of my blog to see, and the corporate attorney for my company to read should I say anything detrimental to THE HAND THAT FEEDS.)   There is only one issue [...]

SQL Saturday #30 – Richmond, VA

The next round of SQL Saturdays is rapidly approaching:  Tampa on 1/23/2010 followed by Boston and Richmond on 1/30/2010.  I received notification that two of my sessions were accepted so now comes the time when I need to get back into the swing of all-things-SQL and switch out of Holiday Mode to get some things [...]
