Major Tim to Ground Control

I Don't Have a Space Suit. You Think this is Air-Tight?

It certainly doesn’t take a rocket scientist to go to space…

John Candy spent dog years in space in Spaceballs…

Abbot and Costello went to Mars…

Eddie Murphy hammed his way through Pluto Nash… (though even HE won’t admit that)

Ben Affleck escaped gravity (and J-Lo) in Armageddon…

Jane Fonda found Duran(d) Duran(d) in Barbarella… (and lost her clothing in the process)

Dirk Benedict became Katee Sackhoff in a very special Battlestar Galactica…

O.J. Simpson even “acted” like he landed on Mars in Capricorn One.  (If the Mars Lander does not fit you must acquit?)

No, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist for space travel, which is fantastic because with your help a Database Administrator can go to space and yours truly could be that DBA.

You see, Red Gate Software held this little contest recently wherein contestants could answer questions about space past, present, and future as well as use Red Gate’s products to help you through plot points in the webisodes that were integral to the contest.  Those whom successfully answered all questions (correctly I might add) were then critiqued on their choice of first tweets from space as well as their bio by a cadre of faceless overlords quite possibly represented here.

I passed the test and now along with 14 others I’m pandering for your votes.  You’re able to vote once per day (and I ask for you to do that in my favor here.)  With your help, one of the first Space Tourists may be a proud geek from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.

You can vote for me here daily

For your viewing pleasure I also was able to create a video for the contest.  Check it out when you vote for me.  Thank you Trevor Ford, Olive Ford, Amy Ford’s underwear (homage to her favorite movie 16 Candles), Microsoft Zune (classic and HD), and Austen Ford on camera duty.  (And no, that was not *really* a Dummies Guide to HAL 9000 in the video.  It was in fact a Dummies Guide to SQL Server Notification Services and therefore mostly harmless.)
